On the 26th day of the Iran War ceasefire, President Donald Trump expressed skepticism of a new Iranian proposal to end the war. The 14-point counterproposal was delivered to U.S. officials through Pakistan's mediation team and includes rejection of a two-month ceasefire, the lifting of a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the withdrawal of U.,S. military forces from areas surrounding Iran, nonaggression guarantees, and an end to Israel’s military campaign in Lebanon. The Treasury Department has warned shipping companies that paying fees to pass through the tollbooth established in the Strait could result in punitive sanctions.
