The National Weather Service has issued an alert day for severe thunderstorms and a slight chance of a tornado. The weather service is expected to see strong, potentially SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS later in some areas of Maryland, including our viewing area. This alert day comes with a new version of the Storm Prediction Center’s Intensity Map indicating a 5% chance of seeing a tornado later in the day. The TORNADO THREAT is still considered a low, but still a high-profile threat, but it is recommended to monitor closely for possible threats. The Weather Service will provide a detailed update on the IntensITY map following the alert. The National Weather Center's interactive map also provides a new level of threat and an update on its future predictions.
