The Endangered Species Committee, known as "The God Squad," has decided to allow oil companies to drill in the Gulf of Mexico without jeopardizing threatened or endangered species, according to environmental groups. This decision was supported by the Trump Administration, which argued that the US needs to be energy independent in light of oil and gas supply disruptions caused by the Iran War. Despite this, oil companies have been reluctant to accept President Trump's plan, which has led to a decrease in oil exploration. The White House's executive order, "Unleashing American Energy," was supposed to encourage a surge in exploration but has not worked. Instead, it has instead led to job cuts and job losses for large oil companies. The Committee has opened the door to more oil exploration and more gas exploration.
