Servers And Bartenders Don’t Know Why Their Refunds Are Bigger This Year

Hospitality workers across the country are reporting higher tax refunds this year, but many have not yet heard of President Trump's "No Tax On Tips" policy. The policy, which originated in Las Vegas, was a frontrunner on the campaign trail and was particularly popular in the city. One waitress at Pearl Dive Oyster Bar said she received a refund this year whereas last year, she had to pay taxes. However, when asked about the policy, she said she had never heard of it. Other workers suggested that tips were not taxed up to $25,000 this year and neither was overtime. The average refund was $3,274, an 11% increase from the previous year.
