The NYPD has transferred a captain, lieutenant, and six Brooklyn North Narcotics detectives from the Brooklyn narcotics team following the arrest of Timothy Brown, who was mistakenly identified as Brown. The violent incident occurred during a narcotics buy-and-bust operation in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. The officers repeatedly struck Brown as they tried to arrest him, causing him to fall headfirst into a wine bottle display. The transfers, confirmed by department officials, will go into effect on Monday. Both detectives Volkan Maden and Michael Algerio were placed on modified duty and stripped of their guns and shields when the video of the confrontation went viral. The NYPD has a history of transferring out entire units amid scandals.
