Sophomore point guard Stephen Dixon led De La Salle to a 59-55 win over King in a Class 3A De LaSalle Sectional semifinal in Chicago. Dixon missed two free throws in the final eight seconds of the game, but returned to the spot and scored 19 points for the team. The Meteors will now face top-seeded Hyde Park in the sectional title. Senior guard Carlos Cueva and senior forward Remi Edwards contributed significantly to the win. Dixon's older sister, Kailey, a senior cheerleader at King, expressed confidence in her brother's ability to turn the game around. The season has been marked by several notable players transferring before the preseason even began, including Sophomore guard Roosevelt Thomas.
