Saudi Arabia's state-run Saudi Falcons Club has led a population restoration programme in Kazakhstan, led by the state's Altyn-Emel National Park and partnered with Kazakh partners. The initiative aims to restore Kazakhstan's population of saker falcons, which have declined by as much as 90% in recent years due to habitat loss. The group will release 35 to 45 birds annually over the next three years. The released birds will be fitted with GPS trackers and microchips to collect data on their migration patterns.
