Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has received a significant boost as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposes amendments to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). The amendment would not impact vehicle safety, as the transmission shift position display in an ADS-equipped vehicle without manually operated driving controls is not the same as in a traditional vehicle. This could affect Waymo, which currently offers robotaxis built with Jaguar and partnerships with Chinese automakers Zeekr and Hyundai. Tesla's shares fell 0.03% to $395.45 during overnight trading.
