A 40-year-old Columbia woman, Wyketa Burgess, has been convicted for her role in the 2024 shooting of two teens outside Giant Food. The shooting followed an alleged armed robbery of a person related to Burgess' co-defendant, Dieneba Traore, who reported the robbery to Howard County police and gave potential leads regarding the people involved. Four days later, Traore and Burgess conspired with a gunman to target the teens involved in the robbery. The gunman then fired several rounds at the teens as they attempted to run away. The investigation into the shooter is ongoing.
