Connecticut lawmakers are working to regulate artificial intelligence (AI chatbots) before a May 6 deadline. Senate Bill 5 requires AI chatbot operators to make efforts to detect suicidal ideation and connect users with resources. The measure is important as 70% of teenagers use AI companions. The bill also includes employers informing workers when AI is being used in the hiring process. It promotes education in nonprofits and small businesses to help with the integration of AI.
