A witness statement has claimed that Qatar promised to protect ICC prosecutor Karim Khan if he moved forward with arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The accusation, supported by audio recordings reviewed by investigators, suggests a potential quid pro quo agreement between the Gulf state and the ICC's top prosecutor. Khan, who took a leave of absence in 2025 following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate, has denied the accusations and described them as part of an "orchestrated campaign" to discredit him. A Qatar-linked intelligence operation is also being investigated by London-based firms Highgate and Elicius Intelligence, allegedly aimed at finding "links" between the accuser and Israeli intelligence. The Dutch counterterror agency (NCTV) is interviewing ICC officials who may have been targeted by the spying operation.
