Former UNLV athletic director Brad Rothermel, known for overseeing the school's successful athletic run, has passed away at the age of 88. During his tenure, UNLV won 33 conference championships and each of the school’s 14 varsity sports reached NCAA postseason play twice. Despite this success, Rotherm faced controversy over the recruitment of Lloyd Daniels, who never wore a UNLV uniform. He returned to athletics in 2004 and served as special adviser to then-athletic director Mike Hamrick until March 2016. He also served as general manager of the Las Vegas Bandits.
