Construction has begun on the construction of Petersen Commons, a building in Avenel, New Jersey, that will house 60 apartments, all of which will be affordable senior housing for adults 55+. The building will be named in honor of veteran of the U.S. Navy and Medal of Honor recipient Carl Petersen. The developer, Pennrose, is committed to ensuring every New Jerseyan can age with dignity in a safe, affordable place to live. The three-story building will feature one- and two-bedroom units available at 30% to 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), with three accessible for physical disabilities and two outfitted for hearing and visual impairments. The building is expected to be completed in 2027.
