Sudbury residents have petitioned for a vote of no confidence in four of the five members of the School Committee, including Chair Karyn Jones, Vice Chair Dr. Jessica McCready, and members Elizabeth Sues and Julie Durgin- Sicree. The petition was launched by community group "Stand Up for Students" and has over 400 signatures. It has been criticised for its governance and transparency practices, including discussions regarding the superintendent's contract being held without proper public notice, formal agenda placement, or transparent deliberation. Recent decisions include allocation of approximately $200,000 in additional school funding to a summer camp and not seeking available Chapter 70 state education funding. The number of signatures is greater than the number attended Sudbury's Annual Town Meeting in 2024.
