The US Justice Department has withdrawn its lawsuits against law firms, including those of Perkins Coie, WilmerHale, Susman Godfrey and Jenner & Block, following unanimous rulings from federal judges that found the president's executive orders against these firms violate the fundamental tenets of the Constitution. The firms had fought back against executive orders by President Donald Trump that targeted their security clearance, government contracts, and access to government buildings due to their clientele and hiring. The decision makes permanent the federal judges' earlier rulings that the lawsuits against the firms were unconstitutional. Some firms, like Paul Weiss, reached deals with the administration after the executive orders were issued, agreeing to donate tens of millions of dollars in pro-bono work for causes Trump supports and to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies.
