The Tampa Bay Rays held their home opener at Tropicana Field, marking the last time the team had played under the dome for over a year. The stadium was heavily damaged by Hurricane Milton and the city of St. Pete invested millions of dollars into repairing it. This was the first regular-season home game for the Rays' new owners, after a deal to build a new stadium in St. Petersburg fell apart. The team's lease at the Trop is set to expire in 2028, and they have announced plans to build another stadium across the bay at Hillsborough College's North Dale Mabry Highway campus. The Rays also celebrated their homecoming with a victory over the Chicago Cubs.
