The Volvo EX90, a mid-size, three-row SUV, is designed as an electric equivalent to Volvo's gasoline-powered XC90 SUV. The EX90 features a more contemporary interior with a large central touchscreen that handles infotainment duties and many critical vehicle controls. The base powertrain is 329-hp single motor and rear-wheel drive, with two different dual-motor all-wheel drives available. The vehicle also features dual electric motors and multiple powertrain configurations. While the EX90 carries a price premium over the gasoline-driven XC89, its starting MSRP puts it at the affordable end of the spectrum for mid-sized electric luxury crossovers. The car's performance was well-received last year, with significant updates including an improved 800-volt charging architecture, a new single motor powertrain option, and other computer hardware improvements. The EPA estimates the Single Motor EX90's fuel economy at 104 MPGe city, 91 MPGe highway, and 98 MPGe combined with 21-inch wheels, while the Dual Motor versions have a larger 106-kWh battery pack. DC fast-charging capability is upgraded for 2026 and is said to be able to charge the Ex90 from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 22 minutes.
