The Justice Department has dropped its probe into the Fed's costly HQ renovations, which was a proxy war between the White House and Fed Chair Jerome Powell and led to the nomination of Kevin Warsh, who will replace Powell. This move allows Sen. Tillis to drop his opposition to Warsh's nomination, allowing Warsh to advance onto the Senate floor before Powell's term ends on May 15. The DOJ's decision is seen as a win for Tillis, who previously criticized Powell's actions as "weak and frivolous". Other issues ahead include DHS funding running dry by May 1, and Section 702 of FISA, the key government spy powers authority.
