Parsippany, New Jersey, has decided to reduce its tax hike to 8.25%, with various options including a 2.5% decrease and a 7.78% decrease. However, these options come with significant cuts to programs and positions. The proposed tax hike would include two positions from the Mayor’s Office (Public Information Officer and Chief of Staff), four positions from Parks and Forestry, and $9,810.78 from the Reserve for Uncollected Taxes (RUT). Other options include major layoffs to full-time employees and significant reductions to summer programs. The budget was unanimously amended to reflect the tax hike.
