Sergio Meza Fraire, 30, is accused of murdering and attempting to murder Meera Varma, a mental health activist daughter of Oprah Winfrey and her mother, Arti Varma. Both were stabbed multiple times during a burglary at their $1.4 million Burbank home. Meera managed to call 911 despite her injuries and is in stable condition. Her mother, a second-grade teacher at an elementary school, died from multiple stab wounds. Fraire was arrested by a SWAT team a few hours after the slaying and is facing multiple charges including murder and attempted murder. He is also charged with using a deadly weapon in the murder and aggravated residential burglary. The next court hearing is scheduled for June 12.
