The New Orleans Police Department is not planning to sign a long-term contract with ShotSpotter, citing that the system only led to one arrest during the trial period. A study suggests that New Orleans could be surrounded by the Gulf before the end of the century due to sea-level rise and erosion. The new chief meteorologist, Scott Pilié, is "beyond excited" by the news.
