Stanley's Angelo Posada, a 19-year-old Poway High School graduate, placed sixth at 197 pounds at the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Cleveland. He is the first San Diego athlete to medal at the NCAAs since Penn State’s Bernie Truax in 2024. His only losses were against three of the five wrestlers higher on the awards platform: Josh Barr (24-0) of Penn State, Stephen Little (20-3) of Arkansas-Little Rock, and Camden McDanel (24/8) of Nebraska. The last Poway grappler to medal and take All-American honors was Todd Schaverien of Missouri in 2011. The Stanford team finished sixth with 63.5 points, a new NCAA record set by the last year.
