WA officer’s 197-pound weight loss journey becomes a book
Published on April 17, 2026.
Former Marysville police officer, David Vasconi, once weighed 408 pounds and has kept it off for 15 years. His weight loss came when he triumphed over three years without injections or weight-loss drugs. Vasconi devised a high-protein, low-carb, low calorie eating plan and began walking five to six days a week and eventually added weight training. He kept his weight off for a year and underwent surgery to remove excess skin around his midsection. Vascona's story is now being chronicled in a new book, "Redemption: One Officer's Story and Successful Battle with Obesity", available on Amazon.
