Ineos Automotive, a carmaker backed by Sir James Ratcliffe, a knighted billionaire, UK chemical mogul and minority owner of one of the world's most prominent soccer clubs, aims to revitalize the rugged SUV market with ambitious growth plans. The company, which has produced over 35,000 off-road SUVs and pickups since its start in 2022, plans to expand vehicle production to the U.S. and achieve breakeven this year. Plans include growing sales in the U., its largest market, by roughly 30% to 35% year over year, expanding awareness and sales globally after issues such as supply chain disruptions, tariffs and other issues negatively impacted its business last year. The carmaker is currently selling vehicles in 50 global markets across North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, China and Australia. Its CEO, Lynn Calder, said the company is focusing on the U.: "We're running it for success. We're running for profitability" and focusing on increasing competitiveness in the global automotive industry. The firm is also considering expanding vehicle production at its current plant in France and potentially adding a factory in the US.
