The family of Naveed Akram, accused of killing 15 people at a Jewish festival in Sydney's Bondi Beach last year, fear for their safety following vigilante attacks. Akram is charged with "the most serious and most notorious terrorist attack this country has ever seen", according to his lawyer, Michael Wilson. The family has received death threats and their home has been targeted by vigilant vigilantes. The alleged vigilante attacks have put the family at risk, Wilson said. Akam is facing 59 charges related to the attack, including 15 counts of murder, 40 counts of wounding with intent to murder, and a terror offence. His father, Sajid Akram was also accused of carrying out the shooting. The attack has sparked calls for tighter gun laws and action to combat antisemitism.
