At AmCham annual gathering, US ambassador to Mexico strikes optimistic note on USMCA

U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson, stated that the upcoming review of the USMCA (USMCA) does not pose a risk but an opportunity to deepen integration within the region. His remarks were made during an address at the 109th General Assembly of Partners meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico. Johnson also stated that North America could become self-sufficient at some point, eliminating the need to import goods. He also highlighted the potential for the United States and Mexico to continue building a stronger partnership. Despite previous statements by U.S President Donald Trump, Johnson stated that he does not care about the USMACA and that it offers "no real advantage" to the US.
