Charlotte invests $25M into aging arena complex

Charlotte City Council has approved a $25 million investment into the BOplex entertainment complex, home to the Charlotte Checkers, and its aging venues. The money will be used to cover $23 million in HVAC upgrades and $2 million in studies of the MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems. The investment reflects the city's desire to keep Ovens Auditorium and Bojangles Coliseum viable. The last time the venues saw significant improvements was in 2020.
