Pinellas beach parking costs more than ever

St. Pete Beach, Florida, has increased its parking rate by 50 cents, bringing hourly rates up to $5 on weekdays and $6 on weekends, with an additional dollar added for the tourist season. The increase comes after Treasure Island, Clearwater Beach, and county parks Fort De Soto, Sand Key and Fred Howard increased their rates last year. The parking revenue will be reinvested in drainage and infrastructure projects, following Hurricane Helene, which led to $200 million in needed upgrades to drainage and sewage systems. However, some residents argue the parking rate increases make it less accessible.
