This tactic reflects a growing overlap between cyber activity and physical conflict. The activity has been particularly targeted in Israel, the Gulf region, and Cyprus. Sergey Shykevich, threat intelligence group manager at Check Point Research, noted that cyber activity often escalates during geopolitical crises. As global conflicts increase, internet-connected devices like surveillance cameras and industrial systems are becoming increasingly targeted, potentially increasing the potential for state-linked hackers.
