President Trump is set to celebrate the rescue of two downed American airmen in Iran, with a deadline set for Iran to agree to a ceasefire and reopen the Straits of Hormuz. Egyptian, Pakistani, and Turkish mediators have sent a proposal for a 45-day ceasefire and the reopening of the strait. Neither Iran nor the U.S. have responded to the proposal. Despite this, Iran has shown no sign of backing down on its stranglehold on shipping through the Strait, which has led to high oil prices and increased gasoline prices.
