No. 1 seed St. John's defeated No. 2 seed UConn 72-52 in the Big East Tournament championship game, marking the Red Storm's second consecutive conference tournament win under coach Rick Pitino. The victory was a significant step forward for St.John's, which is currently competing for the final No.1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Zuby Ejiofor, who scored 18 points and nine rebounds, set a record for the most blocks in a Big East title game. The outcome of the game will be decided on Selection Sunday.
