General Dynamics (GD) has received a significant win from the U.S. Army for stopping work on a $591 million artillery shell factory in Texas, eight months after it was ordered to halt work due to technical issues at the site. The Army lifted the work stoppage order and is now working with General Dynamics on the way forward for the facility. The timing of this change is significant as General Dynamics reports first-quarter 2026 earnings on April 29. The company ended full-year 2025 with $118 billion in backlog, with a book-to-bill ratio of 1.5 times for the year and 1.6 times for Q425 alone. Despite this setback, General Dynamics remains on track for future growth and positioning itself across every major line of accelerating defense spending.
