Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr has warned media outlets that they may lose their broadcast licenses if they continue to run "fake news" content. This comes in response to President Donald Trump's criticism of the Fake News Media for an "intentionally misleading headline" about U.S. Air Force planes reportedly hit by an Iranian missile strike. Carr stated that the law requires broadcasters to operate in the public interest and that they will lose their licenses if do not. He cited a Gallup survey showing that only 9% of U.,S. adults have a great deal of trust in mass media to report news fully, accurately and fairly.
