The Defense Department has been rapidly increasing its use of AI in recent years, with the technology helping the military identify and strike targets while aiding in the organization of weapons maintenance and supply lines. However, there are concerns that its use could invade Americans' privacy or allow machines to choose targets on the battlefield. The contracts come amid concerns about over the potential for over-reliance on AI technology on battlefield.
