Pro-Palestinian protesters have adopted John Farnham's song "Two Strong Hearts" as an unofficial anthem due to its similarities to a political slogan recently banned by the state government in Queensland. The slogan, which demands the elimination of the Israeli state and incites violence against Jewish people, has been condemned by the US House of Representatives and the British government. So far, 25 people have been arrested under new hate-speech legislation in the state of Queensland, which could result in a two-year prison sentence for using the phrase. The ban was introduced in March after a gunman killed 15 people at a Jewish gathering in Sydney's Bondi Beach. Despite these differences, pro-Palestinian activists argue that the ban has caused a chill in the local protest movement.
