The US government has withdrawn its claim that a synthetic form of vitamin B9, leucovorin, could help symptoms of autism, despite previously promising to promote the drug as a potential treatment for the disorder. Senior administration officials said there was insufficient data to support these claims. The FDA has approved Wellcovorine, a synthetic version of the vitamin B 9, for cerebral folate deficiency in children and adults with a confirmed variant in the folate receptor 1 gene (CFD-FOLR1), for cerebral fatalization. The American Academy of Pediatrics has previously stated that there is limited evidence supporting leucrovorin use in autistic children.
