The Indian Supreme Court has ruled that the use of mobile phones during safaris is too dangerous for humans and animals. This decision has led to a ban on use in some of the country's tiger reserves. The ban is part of an attempt to reduce overcrowding of wildlife encounters, known as "safari jams", which occur when a large number of tourists are present.
