The X-Files, known for pushing the envelope, often faced scrutiny from censors, often required minor tweaks to the script. The network for Fox initially balked at the script for "Irresistible" because it referred to Donnie Pfaster as a necrophiliac, but Chris Carter changed this to "death fetishist" for the broadcast episode. Another episode, "Home," was temporarily banned from being rebroadcasted by the network due to its gruesome episode. However, censorship forced The X-Fans to add a single sound effect to an episode in "End Game," where Scully fights the Alien Bounty Hunter and Mulder's sister are attacked by a clone. Standards and Practices demanded the show add a grunting sound effect so audiences would know that Scully was still alive. Despite this, the episode "EndGame" remains one of the best X- Files episodes ever made.
