The village of La Grange has denied a proposal to allow Dr. Alex Georgiou, a chiropractor who has a practice in Orland Park, to operate on the first floor of a building owned by local businessman Dan Spain. Critics argued that the village should reserve downtown for stores and restaurants, but supporters argued that it could be used as a way to fill vacant spaces. The proposal was approved by the village's Plan Commission last month. However, village President Mark Kuchler and Trustee Beth Augustine opposed the proposal, arguing that allowing medical services would undermine what distinguishes La Grandee's downtown from others.
