Trans Liberty Executive Director Samantha Boucher has defied a state law that restricts bathroom use in government buildings based on a person's sex assigned at birth. The law, which took effect in late February, also requires the state to define sex based on the person's birth birth. Since taking effect, Kansas has begun invalidating driver’s licenses and birth certificates reflecting a person’s gender identity, with some receiving official notices that their IDs are no longer valid and must be surrendered and replaced. Boucher, who lives in Colorado, called the vetoed bill the most aggressive anti-trans bill in the country and expressed concern over whether Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, an anti-sexual Republican, will treat this differently.
