House from beloved 1970s TV sitcom now an official landmark

The home of Mike Brady, the patriarch of the 1970s TV sitcom "The Brady Bunch," has been officially designated as an historic-cultural monument by the Los Angeles City Council. The house, which became famous for its exterior shots and interiors, was purchased by HGTV in 2018 for $3.5 million and expanded to more than 5,000 square feet. The landmark status protects the home from demolition or major renovations but does not prohibit them. The nonprofit LA Conservancy pushed for the landmark status, with CEO Adrian Scott Fine expressing his personal connection to the property.
