Spirit's reported liquidation threat could result in layoffs at Arnold Palmer Airport

Spirit Airlines may be liquidating its assets and ending operations, according to ABC News and multiple national news outlets. The reports cite rising fuel costs during the Iran war as a factor in the possibility. The staff at Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Pennsylvania has been prepared for this possibility since Spirit filed for its second bankruptcy last summer. If Spirit liquidates, some of its staff wouldn't have an airline to work for. Gabe Monzo, executive director of the Westmoreland County Airport Authority, said he hasn't heard directly from Spirit but continues to hear from other airlines. Concerns about current flights booked with Spirit are being kept in touch with customer service. This comes after Spirit’s flights to Orlando from Latrobe would return.
