Three Clark County School Board members, Brenda Zamora, Irene Bustamante Adams and Linda Cavazos, are facing challengers in the upcoming election. Under Nevada law, nonpartisan races with more than two candidates can be decided in the June 9 primary if a candidate receives more than 50% of the vote. However, in Districts D and G, those races will skip the primary ballot and proceed directly to the Nov. 3 general election. The 11-member board currently operates as a hybrid body, with seven elected, voting members working alongside four appointed, nonvoting members representing local municipalities. The Clark County Election Department reported that seven candidates have filed for three seats across three available seats. The district has scheduled over 40 community forums to gather input on its new facilities plan.
