The singer, who has sold over 200 million albums and 19 of her singles have reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100, dismissed the snub. She also commented on her preparation for Christmas and expressed her love for her fans. The Hall chose Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan instead of Carey. This is not the first time the Hall has overlooked Carey for the honor; she became eligible in 2016 and was first nominated in 2024.
