The Iranian FA (FFIRI) President, Mehdi Taj, was refused entry to co-host nation Canada due to his connection to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is classified as a "terrorist entity" in the U.S. as the IRGC is considered a terrorist entity in the country. Despite this, Iranian FA Secretary-General Hedayat Mombeini expressed hope FIFA will ensure the players and officials receive their visas on time.
