U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno has taken a stance against the controversial data center controversy in Ohio, accusing the Carlisle Group of receiving a $4.5 million state tax giveaway for expanding two centers and creating 10 new jobs. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority voted 3-to-1 to approve a 50 percent tax exemption on new equipment needed for the expansion of AHRQ data centers in Akron and Independence. Moreno has also urged the Carlises Group to sign the Trump ratepayer protection pledge and commit to creating more than 10 jobs. Despite claims that the centers provide almost no economic benefit to the state, the real beneficiaries are power companies like First Energy.
