Sky Cinemas Midtown, a new single-screen theater in Santa Fe's Midtown district, opened its soft opening with a screening of "Project Hail Mary" starring Ryan Gosling. The theater is located within Aspect Media Village, a redevelopment site that includes commercial, residential and retail properties across 23 acres. The 130-seat theater is a reimagining of The Screen, a former arthouse theater where film students gathered to watch movies with Hollywood legends. The City of Santa Fe hopes this project will revitalize an underserved area and create a place for people to live and eat and go watch movies. Sky Cinemas Program and Marketing Director Peter Grendle ran the old campus theater for about a decade before meeting with owner Bill Banowsky, who asked him to run the 11-screen Railyard location after The Screen shut down in 2020.
