Four years after a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 plane crashed in Wuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, on March 24, 2022, causing it to niveive from cruising altitude and not land in Guangzhou as planned. Global aviation guidelines require an initial report within 30 days of an accident and a final one within a year so industry can learn from what went wrong and improve safety. However, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has not provided an update since March 2024, leaving victims' families still uncertain about what caused the crash. The regulator has stated that the crew held valid licences, had adequate rest and passed health checks on the day of the flight, and there was no dangerous weather or dangerous goods on board the plane.
