The Colorado Senate has passed a bill that would generally prohibit credit card companies from charging certain types of fees on businesses. The bill, named Senate Bill 134, passed in a narrow 18-17 vote and now heads to the House. The Electronic Payments Coalition (EPC) has spent over $566,000 in digital ads opposing the bill, alleging that it would cause chaos and force consumers to pay sales tax in cash or by check. Despite this, Sen. Julie Gonzales supported the bill and it now awaits a vote in the House, which is sponsored by both House Speaker Julie McClie and Majority Leader Monica Duran.
