Christian content creators are outsourcing AI-generated clips to gig workers on Fiverr, a platform that allows users to upload clips of their previous work and comment on client satisfaction. These workers often produce animations inspired by the Christian Bible, which often have an inconsistent aesthetic and mechanical voices. However, these creators rarely mention the outsourcing of the production labor. FiverR, which committed to becoming an “AI-first” company last fall when it laid off 250 employees, offers these services. Some of the highest-rated freelancers are based in Africa and South Asia. The freelancers interviewed expressed their preference for these types of work as less extractive on a personal level.
